After the victory against Leganés, Los Blancos are negotiating with several players to renew their contracts. Real Madrid continue with their renewal period and after closing the new contract of Bale, Modric, Kross and Lucas Vázquez, it’s the turn of the most valuable player of the squad, Cristiano Ronaldo. This means that Pepe and Isco are the only players that did not renew with Real Madrid.

According to Marca, Cristiano will continue wearing the white t-shirt until 2021, when he will be 36 years old. With this new contract, Cristiano Ronaldo will play twelve seasons defending the interests of Real Madrid. The official confirmation next week, either on Monday or onTuesday, as Marca indicated. The new contract will increase his salary, so Florentino Perez wants to recognize the importance of Cristiano’s role for Real Madrid.

The event could be held tomorrow or on Tuesday at the Palco de Honor at Santiago Bernabéu.The only constraints of the contract were the years the Portuguese star demanded but finally Real Madrid accepted the conditions and offered him all he wanted. Ronaldo has mentioned this renewal to his teammates this weekend so we can think the contract was closed long time ago.

Cristiano is and has been Real Madrid star in the years he has played for Los Blancos. With him in the squad, Real Madrid have won one Liga (2011-2012), two Copa del Rey (2010-2011 and 2013-2014), two Champions League (2013-2014 and 2015-2016), one Spanish Super Cup (2012-2013) and two European Super Cup (2014-2015 and 2016-2017). Since the season he arrived at Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo has scored more than 25 goals in all the regular seasons. He has qlwo won the Golden Ball three times in the years 2008, 2013 and 2014. After the match Los Blancos won against Leganés in the 11th game of the regular season, Zidane spoke in press conference as he always do. Gareth Bale was the best player of all the pitch and he scored two goals that helped Los Blancos being on the top of the table just before the match against Atlético de Madrid (19th November).

Zidane highlighted the fact of not receiving any goal, the return of a key player as Luka Modric, Cristiano’s performance, the difficulty of scoring the first goal and the great distance Los Blancos have with the opposite teams of the table.

The match against Leganés was not easy and Real Madrid could not open the scoreboard until the minute 30th. Zidane talked about this: “It was a difficult match because the rival pressed us a lot and we didn’t find the way to make chances. Real Madrid won the 11th match of the regular season against Leganés at Santiago Bernabéu. Zidane decided that Nacho should be the full center pair of Varane and a midfield with a lot of quality with Kroos, Kovacic and Isco. Finally, Morata had the chance to be in the starting 11 because of Benzema´s muscular problems.

The match started quite difficult because Leganés were playing with four defenders and five midfielders. For that reason, Los Blancos had many problems to connect with Cristiano, Bale and Benzema. In the fist half an hour, Real Madrid didn’t have many chances to score the first goal, but finally a great long pass from Isco to Bale opened the scoreboard in the minute 38. Just before the first half ends, the Welshman scored the second goal from a set piece.

The second half started really calm and in the first 15 minutes we only can highlight two chances of Gareth Bale and the return of Luka Modrid, who entered on the pitch replacing Kovacic. In the minute 68 James entered replacing Isco in the midfield. Los Blancos were controlling the game and Leganés had a great chance around the minute 70 from Szymanowski but Keylor Navas did a great safe.

Morata was not participating in the match but suddenly he received a pass from Kroos and he scored the third one for Los Blancos. The Spaniard striker had the opportunity to show that he can play from the beginning but he didn’t receive too many passes from their partners. Five minutes after Morata’s goal, Lucas Vázquez entered replacing him with a huge ovation.

Cristiano had many opportunities to score his goal but he will not remember this match as the best one he played with Real Madrid’s t-shirt. Nacho was very well placed on the pitch and he performed really good tackles for Real Madrid’s interests. We can say that we watched a really good game of the players managed by Zinedine Zidane against a team that had a very defensive line up and that always is difficult to open the scoreboard. The best news for Real Madrid supporters were the return of James Rodríguez and Luka Modric after being injured several weeks.

After the draw of Los Blancos at Warsaw, Zinedine Zidane spoke in the press conference the day before Real Madrid will play against Leganés. We saw the French manager very optimistic despite the critics he received this week after the poor match Real Madrid played at Warsaw. Zidane highlighted the match at Warsaw, the recovery of Modric, the injury of Benzema and his opinion about Leganés.

Zinedine Zidane received many critics because of the game of Champions League of this week against Warsaw and he said who is the responsible of that match: “I’m the responsible of the draw at Warsaw. When things go well, there is a small part of me, and if things go wrong I am responsible and I assume. There are going to be critics every time the team doesn’t answer, the only thing I want is to forget this match”, Zidane said about the match of Warsaw.

Modric will return after being several weeks out of the team and Zidane confirmed his presence in the list for the match of tomorrow: “He is included in the list. The French striker has hamstring problems and Zidane decided not to take any risks and give him a rest: “He will not play tomorrow. After the match at Warsaw he felt something in his hamstring. We don’t know exactly what he has. We are not going to risk with a player who has muscular problems”, Zidane said about Benzema´s injury.

Los Blancos will play against a team that debut in the Spanish first division. Real Madrid will face this weekend Leganés with many injuries in the squad. Zidane can’t include in his list players like Pepe because of a hamstring injury, Ramos with a sprained knee, Casemiro has problems in his fibula and Modric in his knee.

We are going to focus in two injuries Real Madrid have since several weeks. These two key players are Modric and Casemiro who are through different processes in these moments.

Real Madrid supporters are missing the Croatian midfielder in the pitch because he hasn’t played since the match Los Blancos played against Espanyol in the 18th of September. Luka Modric was operated the last October 2 of his left knee and he has missed very important Real Madrid matches. The Champions League winner is the club with more players among the nominees to win The Best Award. This is the trophy given by the FIFA to the best footballers in 2016. We’ll know the result the next 9th of January in Zurich.

FIFA announced the 23 nominees today in their website and we can find 5 Real Madrid players, more than any other team. These are Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. All five are also nominated to win the Ballon D’Or given by France Football.

This year, FIFA and France Football will give away different awards. The international organization trophy is called The Best whereas the French newspaper award is the Ballon D’Or. There are several difference between them.

In The Best trophy, the 50% of the votes come from the captains and the coaches of the different national teams. The other 50% come from the supporters, who can vote in the website of the FIFA.

Besides, in the list given by the FIFA there are 23 nominees whereas in the one made public by France Football we found 30. Müller, Pepe, Dybala, Higuaín, Godín, Aubameyang, Lloris, Arturo Vidal, Koke or Rui Patricio could win the Ballon D’Or but they are not in the list to win The Best. Alexis Sánchez, Özil and Kanté could win the FIFA award but not the Ballon D’Or.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the great favourite to win both trophies. The Real Madrid Portuguese star won the Champions League and the Euro the very same year, with good performances in both. However, he missed the final in France due to an injury and he didn’t play a great game in Milan, although he scored the last penalty.

However, the Croatian national coach is thinking in calling him. A similar situation that happened in the last national games with James Rodríguez and Colombia.

Real Madrid couldn’t get the three points in Warsaw on Wednesday, so it’s more complicated for Los Blancos to finish first of their group. Especially after Borussia Dortmund’s victory over Sporting Portugal in Germany. Now, the German team is two points ahead Zidane’s side, who have to travel to Lisbon in the next game and finish at Bernabéu Stadium with Borussia Dortmund.

The first position of the group was the goal for the Champions League title holder at the beginning of the competition. However, after the first four games, it might be better to finish second and avoid some big teams. We have to remember at this point that two teams from the same country cannot play together in the Last 16 Round. Therefore, Real Madrid will avoid Atlético de Madrid and FC Barcelona, who should win their groups. Sevilla are also top of their group but Juventus are expected to win that position at the end of the stage.

With the two Spanish teams top of their groups, Manchester City and Bayern Múnich will finish second. So if Real Madrid don’t win their group, they’ll avoid them. Besides, Arsenal or PSG are also fighting for this position, so another one cannot play against the Spanish giants.

Taking this in consideration, Real Madrid could face in the Last 16 PSG or Arsenal; Besiktas, Benfica or Napoli; Leverkusen, Tottenham or Monaco; Leicester, Porto and Copenhague.

For instance, if the group stage would finish today, Real Madrid rivals would be Arsenal, Napoli, Monaco or Leicester City. On the other hand, if Los Blancos would be top of the table of their group, their rivals would be: PSG, Benfica, Manchester City, Bayern Múnich, Bayer Leverkusen, Porto and Juventus.
