Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has said he is delighted to have helped the team pick up three vital points at Villarreal.
Los Blancos saw off the Yellow Submarine with two goals in the first half at El Madrigal, Luka Modric and Cristian Ronaldo finding the net. The team also enjoyed their first clean sheet in the league season, something the French defender told journalists was an important thing.
Last season, Real escaped with a draw from their visit to Castellon, and the young defender told reporters the win on Saturday afternoon was significant to keep their momentum going.
“Playing against Villarreal is always difficult. They are three important points and now we have to keep on moving forward. Casillas is in very good shape, today we kept a clean sheet and that is important for us. It’s good for the team,” Varane told journalists after the match.
And the France international added: “Cristiano is in really good shape and that is very good for the team. I am too, I’ve played three games in a row and I hope I can continue to do that. My job is to play and try to do the best I can. I feel happy at the club.”
