Manchester United midfielder Angel di Maria does not look happy at the club, says Red Devils legend Paul Scholes.
The Argentinean switched from Real Madrid to Old Trafford in the summer following the arrival of James Rodriguez in the Spanish capital. At the time, many Madrid fans were unhappy to see the 26-year-old leave as he was a key part of the team that enjoyed success in the Copa del Rey and Champions League last season.
United have made their worst start to a league campaign since 1986, taking just 13 points from their first 10 games under new boss Louis van Gaal. And Scholes wrote in his column for the Daily Telegraph that di Maria’s mood sums up the overall feeling in the squad at Old Trafford.
He noted that last season he played with a smile on his face and combined well with Cristiano Ronaldo – he provided 17 assists last season. And while he has shown United fans what he can offer in flashes, he doesn’t look the same player.
“My concern is that the mood among the United players feels a bit low-key. Preparing for the broadcast of the game in Madrid this week, I watched reruns of last season and Angel Di Maria smiling broadly as he celebrated goal after goal with Cristiano Ronaldo.
“He doesn’t seem to be in the same happy mood at United. It feels downbeat among the team. All this, and yet the third and fourth places – with respect to the likes of Southampton and West Ham – really are there for the taking,” Scholes wrote.
If I were in Maria’s place,I’ll behave same.I’m not just happy with his transfer.
