Alvaro Arbeloa wants to move back to Liverpool after seeing reducing playing time Real Madrid, according to reports in the UK.
The right-back has had to get used to playing second fiddle to Dani Carvajal at the Santiago Bernabeu, and is believed to be keen on a move away to get first team football as he enters the twilight of his career.
A number of Premier League clubs are interested in him including Chelsea, now managed by former Los Blancos boss Jose Mourinho, the Daily Express claims. London rivals Arsenal are also believed to be keen on the player’s signature as they desperately look for defensive cover having looked vulnerable at the back all season and with key players suffering numerous injuries.
But Arbeloa is thought to be more interested in a move back to Anfield where he spent a couple of seasons before joining Real Madrid. He made 98 appearances in all competitions for the Reds between 2007 and 2009 and netted on two occasions.
Since joining Real Madrid, the 56-times capped Spain international has played a key role in the teams success. He has won La Liga, the Copa Del Rey, Spanish Supercopa, Champions League, Club World Cup and European Super Cup among his trophy haul.
