Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa believes former boss Jose Mourinho could one day return to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Portuguese spent three years in charge at the club, winning the Copa del Rey in 2011 and the league in 2012. But despite believing his is something special, he failed to lift the Champions League – his and the club’s main objective.
By the end of his time at the club there were plenty of stories of division in the squad. He dropped club captain and legend Iker Casillas and also had high profile falling outs with Pepe and Cristiano Ronaldo. He didn’t stop there though and also had regular run ins with opposition managers and officials.
Speaking to El Chiringuito, Arbeloa, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea to rejoin his former boss, said Mourinho could one day return to the Spanish capital.
“There is a chance that Mourinho will return to Real Madrid in the future. I do not know when, but I do believe he could return one day,” he said.
And he added: “I do not agree with those who say he divided Madrid. I am a Mourinho fan. He knows what he wants and is always straight and honest. He does not have any fear.”
