Real Madrid legend Michael Laudrup has backed Carlo Ancelotti following Los Blancos’ failure to win any of the three big titles this season -La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League.
The Danish manager has praised his Italian colleague in an interview with Spanish sports newspaper Marca: “Ancelotti deserves to continue after the good work he’s done at Real Madrid, but in football results are very important.”
The 50-year-old believes Ancelotti has had bad luck in the decisive moments of the season and doesn’t deserve to be fired this summer.
Should Florentino Perez finally decide to get rid of Ancelotti, Laudrup could be one of the candidates to take the job.
Asked about this possibility, Laudrup, who is coaching Qatar side Lekhwiya, left the door open: “I’m not going to accept any offers from mid-table teams in England of Spain. Those are experiences I’ve already lived. In this stage of my coaching career I’m looking for new things. If a big club makes an offer, I won’t say no, but I would like to try in the United States if it’s possible.”
Laudrup managed Getafe and Mallorca in La Liga before signing for Swansea City in the Premier League. He’s now working at Qatar Stars League club Lekhwiya, but plans to find a new project this summer.
ancelotti should be allowed to stay one more season because he might pull a surprise to the club.
