James Rodriguez has said he is happy to play in any position for Real Madrid.
The Colombian, who signed from Monaco in an 80 million euro deal last summer, arrived at the club having made a name for himself as an attacking midfielder and playmaker.
Indeed, his eyecatching displays for his country at the World Cup in Brazil, and in particular his goal of the tournament against Uruguay, prompted Los Blancos to act fast to snap up their man ahead of anyone else.
Under Carlo Ancelotti, the 23-year-old was asked to play in a deeper role, something he had not be used to. James still ended the season with 17 goals in 46 appearances in an impressive opening campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Now back with his national team for the Copa America, Rodriguez spoke to reporters to discuss his role at international and club level and said he is not worried by the arrival of Rafa Benitez at Madrid because he will play anywhere in the team.
“I am clear with what Pekerman wants and I am capable of doing it. At Real Madrid I play a little further back but I will play wherever I am asked,” he stated.
“I have great enthusiasm and I’m feeling good about the Copa America. It won’t be easy but we will take it step by step. I don’t like to lose and we will try our best to winner the tournament,” he added.
I love the boy playing in rm and his skils.
