Keylor Navas is not sure he will continue playing for Real Madrid next season. The Los Blancos goalkeeper confessed at a press conference prior to Costa Rica’s friendly against Spain that “only God knows if I will stay.”
Navas admitted he has talked to Los Merengues directors about his future: “I have spoken with the club. Only God knows if I will stay at Real Madrid. I hope I can remain a member of the squad to keep fighting for my dream, which is being the starting goalkeeper.”
“I’m not content with what I’ve done at Real Madrid up until now. Things haven’t gone as I wanted to, but these situations have made me stronger,” the Costa Rican explained.
The 28-year-old keeper met his possible rivals for a spot in the starting eleven next year, as Iker Casillas and David de Gea were also in Leon for the game between Spain and Costa Rica. Asked about them, Navas said “I respect everyone, both my team-mates and my rivals.” “Respect is the most important. I’m very quiet and eager to work,” he added.
Speaking of his experience at Real Madrid last season, Navas explained he “tried to learn from everyone.” “I have learned a lot both from Casillas and Pacheco. I try to just think about myself, and I will compete against anyone. I will fight against Iker and try to make things better to help the team when I’m given the chance to play,” he concluded.
