Real Madrid are considering abandoning their attempts to sign David de Gea from Manchester United and instead make a move for Espanyol keeper Kiko Casilla, according to reports in Spain.
Los Blancos have been linked with a move for de Gea all summer long, but United won’t budge on their valuation of the player, who has just one year remaining on his deal at Old Trafford.
The Premier League side want 30 million euros for de Gea, a valuation Real are not prepared to meet. Relations between the club are at a stand still too as United say they won’t sell de Gea if Real won’t sell them Sergio Ramos in return.
AS says the 10-time Champions League winner are growing tired of playing the waiting game and will instead make a move for Casilla, who has been liked with a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu in the past.
The paper claims Casilla would compete with Keylor Navas at the club, with Iker Casillas edging closer to a move to Porto – ending his 25-year association with Real Madrid.
Casilla grew up in the Los Blancos youth teams but left in 2007 for Espanyol in order to establish himself as a number one. Last season, he played all but one league games and kept 13 clean sheets along the way.

Real needs to take decision on the players to sign on time. They seem confused on who to sign. Why wait on Man U that is holding you to ransom when you can look elsewhere. Real could have landed Petr Chec before Arsenal did. A two or three year contract with the former Chelsea goalkeeper is a better deal than signing Casilla. I am sure Real can get better goalkeepers in the German league.
