Real Madrid left back Marcelo has signed a new deal at the club, extending his stay until 2020.
Official social media channels confirmed the Brazilian has signed his contract extension tying the defender down until he is 32 years old.
Marcelo becomes the second player to sign a new deal in the past few days following Daniel Carvajal, who also committed his future to the club until 2020.
Marcelo signed for Los Blancos in the winter of 2006-07 aged just 18. Over the past eight and a half campaigns, the Brazil international has established himself as one of the key men in the side, making 320 appearances.
Should Sergio Ramos and Iker Casillas both leave this season, Marcelo is among the favourites to take over the captaincy of the club.
As a Los Blancos player, he has lifted a whole host of trophies. His highlight is no doubt scoring in the Champions League final against Atletico de Madrid as Real won La Decima in 2014. He has also won La Liga, the Copa de Rey, Spanish Supercopa, European Super Cup and World Club Cup.
Last season, Marcelo featured 53 times for Real, scoring four goals. His missed Brazil’s Copa America campaign through injury though but will head on tour with Real to Australia and China.
