Cristiano Ronaldo has been named as one of the candidates to receive UEFA’s Best Goal of the Season Award.
The goal the Portuguese scored against Liverpool in the group stage of the Champions League has been selected as one of the ten best of the season.
Ronaldo opened the scored in Real Madrid’s 0-3 victory at Anfield Road with a superb flick, following a brilliant collective play.
That night, the Los Blancos forward confessed he was very happy to have scored that goal: “This is a very important victory. I had never scored here. I’m not surprised that they gave me an ovation, they have always had special affection for me. This was a perfect night.”
UEFA Football Committee and the UEFA Technical Observers have also selected goals from Vasyl Kobin (Shakhtar Donetsk), Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal), Neymar (Barcelona), Leo Messi (Barcelona), Erik Lamela (Tottenham), Vitorino Antunes (Dinamo Kiev), Robbie Muirhead (Scotland), Mariam Abdulai Toloba (Belgium) and Erik De Bruyne (Wolfsburg).
Ronaldo already won this award last season. He could now win it two years in a row. The voting is already opened in uefa.com so all football fans can vote their favourite. The winner will be announced on August 25th.
