Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez says his players were in tears in the dressing room after being thrashed by Real Madrid on Sunday afternoon.
Los Blancos were trailing 2-1 early on but two sendings off for the visitors changed the course of the game. The Santiago Bernabeu side then went on to win 10-2 – the first time a team has scored double figures in a La Liga match for 55 years.
Gareth Bale scored four, Karim Benzema grabbed a hat trick and Cristiano Ronaldo scored two on what was an excellent day for the BBC. Right back Danilo got the scoreboard rolling after just three minutes.
Speaking after the game, Jemez said he thought he was living a nightmare but what was unfolding before his eyes was in fact real.
