Real Madrid legend Raul says returning to the club would be his first choice when he take up a career in coaching but he’s happy with his work at the LFP at the moment.
The for Los Blancos forward, the second highest scorer in the club’s history, is working as an ambassador for the LFP – something that he admits allows him to see another side of the game from a much calmer perspective.
The 38-year-old is however studying his coaching badges at the same time with a view to one day returning to the day-to-day involvement in football.
Speaking to Cadena Ser, the ex-Spain international stated: “At the moment I’m not going to get the Coach’s licence. I’m going to go little by little. Now I’m at another moment in my development. The LFP is giving me the opportunity to know the world of football from another point of view. It’s going to enrich me. It’s a much calmer stage.”
And he added: “If I ever feel I’m ready then I won’t mind. I’ve taken a lot of risks in my life and I always will. I hope at some point to help Madrid but having a successful playing career doesn’t mean you’d be a good Coach. Madrid has opened doors for me. I have a good relationship with the President, but there’ll be a time to return. If I worked at a club my first choice would be Madrid. There is time to return.”
