Real ‘eye Spurs boss as Zidane replacement’

Real Madrid are lining up Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino as the replacement for Zinedine Zidane should the boss depart at the end of the season.

Zidane has only been in charge for a couple of months following the sacking of Rafa Benitez in January and has seen his side lose just once in that time – last weekend’s defeat to Atletico de Madrid.

That loss – more the manner in which Madrid played – and the fact the club could be in for a major overhaul of its’ playing staff this summer has caused some uncertainty surrounding Zidane’s future despite him signing a two and a half year deal.

Should the 1998 World Cup winner and Los Blancos part ways in the summer,  Italisn paper La Gazetta dello Sport says plans are underway to bring in a replacement with Argentine Pochettino identified as a top target. The 43-year-old former Espanyol manager knows La Liga well and has overseen Spurs’ rise up the table in the past two years to put them on the brink of their first league title in 55 years.

It is understood that while they would be reluctant to lose their manager, Spurs would not stand in his way if he wanted to take one of football’s most coveted positions. Real and Spurs have done plenty of business in recent seasons with Gareth Bale and Luka Modric having left White Hart Lane for the Santiago Bernabeu.

  1. Hahahahaha, yet another load of made up bullshit coming out of the Real Madrid camp. Because Spurs have sold two of their star players to Real Madrid in the past, mersonaries who wanted to go. Pochettino doesnt want to go. I’d rather believe Guillem Balague who believes that Poch would rather stay and continue building a team in his image at Spurs which is still in its infancy. Real Madrid is a poisoned chalice and anyone with high morals which Pochettino obviously has would be mad to go anywhere near at this stage in his career. You people do make me laugh “it is understood (who understands? Wheres your evidence?) that Spurs wouldnt stand in his way should he want to take on one of footballs most coveted positions” What a load of bollocks. Spanish football isnt anywhere as exciting as the EPL and with the exception of Barcelona, it’s boring watching sheep being slaughtered week after week after week. Real Madrid with their inflated ego’s are getting their royal arses kicked and rightly so and long may it continue.

  2. Comment:Who is did Madrid hater.Go and hide,cos u r saying bulshit.Florentino perez is madrid problem.We pray he resigns,n madrid ll b beta again…Hala madrid 4 life!

  3. Comment:that will be rubbish if Madrid sack Zinedane, sacking of coaches is not the problem facing real Madrid team but causing more problem to the team. if coach like Anceloti was not sack I believe the team would have not pass through all these difficulties. the biggest problem facing Real Madrid team is that they lack union and respect for one another. they don’t play for the glory of the team but for their own glory and if they don’t make proper solution to that aspect, they will always be having difficult season and they will by no means find it easy to surpass Barcelona as far as Laliga is concern
