Real Madrid drew (2-2) against Borussia Dortmund at Santiago Bernabéu and failed to win the group in the Champions League. Los Blancos were leading 2-0 but couldn’t keep the result. Zinedine Zidane gave the opportunity to James Rodríguez, after not playing any minute in El Clásico. Actually the French manager said that they had “a problem” with the Colombian. He was at a good level and helped the team in the match.
Borussia Dortmund showed his quality at Santiago Bernabéu and the German side had several chances to score a goal. Keylor Navas made a couple of good saves, especially a great one from a free kick from Schurrle. Aubameyang didn’t have his evening, although he was very active and always a danger for Los Blancos.
Real Madrid took the lead in the first half thanks to a goal from Benzema. The French striker found the net after a great assist from Daniel Carvajal in the minute 28. The former Olympique Lyon player was very criticized after El Clásico and he shut the criticism with two goals. Borussia pushed very hard at the end of the first half but they couldn’t draw the game.
In the second half, Benzema had a very clear chance, very similar to the first one, but Weidenfeller saved it. Right after the chance, Benzema scored the second goal in the 53rd minute.Borussia Dortmund reacted and Aubameyang scored very quickly the goal to shorten the gap (61’).
In the last 30 minutes we saw a lot of chances. Borussia Dortmund could level the game, but Benzema or Cristiano Ronaldo had the easiest one to score. But the post or the defenders saved the chances and Marco Reus could equalize in the 88th minute. Perhaps this was the best Real Madrid game at Bernabéu this season, but Los Blancos couldn’t achieve the goal. Now the are second of the group and could face Leicester City, Arsenal, Monaco, Napoli and Juventus.
