French club Monaco are ready to make a world record 100 million euros bid for Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, the Independent had claimed.

The Portuguese forward has just two years left on his current deal at the Santiago Bernabeu and has previously stated he is unhappy with life in the Spanish capital.

While talks have begun over a new deal, they are at an impasse, and Monaco – bank-rolled by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev- are ready to offer an escape route, the paper said.

The report claimed Monaco officials are monitoring the situation between Ronaldo and his club and if no agreement is reached in the coming weeks, will offer a mega deal towards the end of the transfer window.

The newly-promoted Ligue 1 side has already spent around 130 million euros this summer to secure the signings of Radamel Falcao from Atletico Madrid and James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho from Porto.

As well as paying a world-record fee for Cristiano Ronaldo, Monaco would be prepared to offer wages of 20 million euros a year. With no income tax for residents of the principality, the forward would take home a weekly wage of around 390,000 euros.
