Zinedine Zidane spoke in press conference before travelling to Vitoria to face Alavés. Los Blancos are now forced to win after the defeat at home against Betis. The manager tried to explain in press conference the situation of the team and how the results are affecting the group.
The coach was asked about the referees and if they have something to do with the current situation: “Referees? We don’t have any excuses. I’m not going to speak about the referees, I’ve never spoken about this”.
The French manager was very criticized for his substitutions on Wednesday: “Before I was lucky and now I’m jinx… I’m still lucky. I’m in this club and I enjoy a lot. I don’t think about the ginx I may have. It’s part of football”.
Despite being behind Barcelona, Zidane doesn’t think the title is over: “If I were 7 points ahead, I wouldn’t say that La Liga is over. You can have up to 10 or 15 points of difference… We are going to be there, don’t worry”, the manager explained.
Although the team is not playing well, Zidane is not really concerned: “I’m not worried because of the run of the team. I’d be worried if we didn’t have chances. We’re going to convert the chances. At Anoeta we scored three goals”.
Toni Kroos won’t be at Mendizorroza because he has some physical problems, so Zidane needs to rotate again. The manager was asked if he’s bothered because of the critics: “Nothing is going to change if I’m bothered or not, because I won’t change anything. I believe a lot in what I do. Here we work a lot of people and the rotations won’t change. Sometimes I’ve been asked if I rotate because of the age of the players. I change everyone. 20-years-old players cannot play 70 games per season. We have to give them rest, physically and mentally. And our players are internationals, so they never rest. I’m not going to change”, Zidane said.
