Reports this week are suggesting that Real Madrid may be interested in a move for Chelsea defender David Luiz when the January transfer window opens in around a month’s time.
The reason why Luiz could be up for sale is due to the fact that he has fallen out with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and was frozen out of the team for a while. The issue came after Luiz’s reaction to being substituted in the Champions League match against Roma at Stamford Bridge.
There are a few possible destinations for him. Barcelona is the most likely according to bookmakers with a price of 3.50. Juventus is priced at 5.00 and Real Madrid and PSG are also possibilities at 6.50. All odds are supplied by My Betting Sites.
Zidane Looking For New Players
European champions Real Madrid have begun to draw up a list of targets for the January transfer window. Following a rather disappointing summer window, it is crucial that the club get this one right and bring some quality players in, so that Los Blancos can challenge for La Liga and the Champions League.
Real manager Zinedine Zidane has admitted that the club could be looking for new players in January and David Luiz would fit the bill. The former PSG defender had been training alone after falling out with Antonio Conte and sat out a few Premier League games. He did return for the Champions League contest against Qarabag though.
Luiz is currently out with a slight knee injury and it remains to be seen whether or not Chelsea will agree to sell the man that was named in the PFA Team of the Year for last season, when the Blues won the Premier League title.
The Brazilian has 18 months left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and it would likely take a bid close to the £34 million that Chelsea paid to Paris Saint-Germain back in 2016.
