Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Real Madrid continues to dominate stories in the Spanish media, and the latest rumours suggest that if Ronaldo was to leave the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer then the club would target three top players to create an all new attacking force.
Spanish publication Marca has speculated that Real’s ‘BBC’ front three of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo could all be replaced by an incoming trio of Neymar, Eden Hazard and Robert Lewandowski. This is of course another rumour that should be taken with a pinch of salt as the original story from Marca is lacking any real quotes, but interest in all three of these players has been reported heavily in the past.
It is said that the next few days will be crucial in knowing whether or not Cristiano Ronaldo will stay at Los Blancos or if he will decide to leave the club. It was claimed by AS that the player had decided that he wants to return to Manchester United, but there were no real quotes to back up that story either.
New ‘NHL’ strike force?
It has also been claimed that Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo’s agent, and Real president Florentino Perez have been working on an exit for the Portuguese superstar. Real also believe that now is not the right time to work on a new contract for Cristiano, as Zinedine Zidane’s side are struggling on the pitch.
Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon is not convinced that the links to Neymar, Hazard and Lewandowski are genuine. He told Le Parisien:
“This is a strategy Madrid always have used to distract their fans from the current problems of the team, and sell them a dream for next season,”
“It is also a way of pressurising Ronaldo into leaving. The president has the idea in his head of using the money freed up to sign Neymar.”
It remains to be seen what is true and what isn’t, but the sooner it is sorted out the better.
