Most of today’s press focus in on Real Madrid’s late win over Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu in the opening match of the La Liga campaign.
The visitors took the lead early on, before Karim Benzema leveled on the half hour mark. Isco then ran the show and got the winner four minutes from time to secure the three points for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
Both Marca and AS are full of praise for Isco, a 30 million euros summer signing from Malaga. The 21-year-old made Benzema’s goal and grabbed one himself – the stuff dream debuts are made of.
There is also plenty of coverage on the goalkeeping situation. Iker Casillas, left out much much of the campaign last year by Jose Mourinho, was widely expected to take his place in the starting 11 under Ancelotti. However, the Italian sprung a surprise and left him on the bench in favour of Diego Lopez. According to the manager, that could change in the next match.
