Madrid sports daily Marca claims today that Xabi Alonso’s contract renewal is the first priority for Real Madrid at the moment. “Alonso in the pole position,” they title.
The Spanish newspaper states “the good recovery from his injury and his influence in the team’s game have convinced the club directors.” Marca points out Alonso “wants a two-year contract and a pay rise.”
The other main Madrid sports paper, As, reports that Alonso, who suffered a contusion in Spain’s last match against Equatorial Guinea, will be fit for next Saturday’s La Liga clash at Almeria. “He has a minor contusion in his ankle,” they explain.
As also publishes an exclusive report about an internal fight among Real Madrid radical fans group Ultras-Sur. “War for the power,” they title, pointing out that “the youth have been confronted with the veterans for two years.”
Meanwhile, Marca publishes an exclusive interview with Barcelona’s winger Pedro, who affirmed he didn’t like “what Joseph Blatter did to Cristiano Ronaldo.”
