Sergio Ramos is set to be offered a new contract that will see Real Madrid insert a 60 million euro buy-out clause in the hope of warding off potential buyers.
The 27-year-old has been with Los Blancos since 2005 in which time he has made over 350 appearances and scored 42 goals.
Spanish newspaper AS have revealed desperate attempts are being made to keep Ramos at the Santiago Bernabeu with a demanding buy-out clause.
The defender’s loyalty has been brought into question over the years as the media have reported his open conflict with either team mates or the coaches.
Ramos’ relationship with Carlo Ancelotti has become strained following his dismissal against Galatasaray in the week but the Italian is intent on keeping his vice-captain.
Manchester City are keen on improving their defensive options by signing Ramos, but the hefty fee may be enough to dissuade the Citizens from making an offer.
