Carlo Ancelotti believes Jese Rodriguez has what it takes to book himself a place in Spain’s World Cup squad for this summer’s tournament in Brazil.

The 20-year-old forward has enjoyed a sensational first season within the main team set up at the Santiago Bernabeu scoring eight goals so far in 27 appearances in total, mainly from the bench. He has drawn comparisons with Real legend Raul, who scored 10 goals in his debut season with Los Blancos.

There is little doubt Jese can do it on the big stage such as at the World Cup, having already scored in three of Spain’s most iconic and intimidating stadiums this season – the Nou Camp, San Mames and the Mestalla. He also further his big game player credentials by netting in the Copa del Rey semi-final against Atletico de Madrid.

Jese has yet to win a senior cap for La Roja, but has been a key part of the Under-21 side. It is believed Vicente de Bosque will call him up for next month’s friendly match though.

And club manager Ancelotti says Jese is ready. Speaking to Canal Plus, he stated: “It’s not an exaggeration to talk about Jesé going to the World Cup. There are a lot of players like him, who have had a great season and will have a great World Cup.”
