It’s the turn of Real Madrid in the Champions League tonight and Los Blancos will be looking to make it three wins out of three for Spanish teams after Barcelona and Atletico de Madrid won their first-leg matches last week.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men travel to Raul’s old club, Schalke, in Germany tonight. The nine-time winners of the European Cup have a terrible record in Germany, winning just once in 25 games, and scoring only 23 goals while conceding 60.
AS has an interview with former Real left back Roberto Carlos, who says the team did not enjoy their matches in Germany.
He revealed he played their four times with Madrid, and the team played with so much intensity and concentration, wanting to end the woeful record, that in the end they didn’t enjoy playing there.
The good news for Madrid fans is the return of the BBC. In his press conference on Tuesday, Ancelotti revealed Gareth Bale will play ahead of Jese, while Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the fray having sat out the last La Liga fixtures.
The 29-year-old will be hungry to return, and will also be seeking to overtake Zlatan Ibrahimovic as this season’s top scorer in the competition. Currently, the Swedish striker has 10 goals to his name, while the recently-named Ballon d’Or winner has nine goals in his five matches.
