Real Madrid have announced the signing of Monaco playmaker James Rodriguez on a long-term deal.
The Colombian player passed a medical examination in Madrid this morning before putting pen-to-paper on a six-year deal at the Santiago Bernabeu.
He will be presented to the Real Madrid fans at the stadium at 8pm local time and give his first press conference as a Los Blancos player.
Rodriguez arrives from Monaco in a deal thought to be worth 75 million euros. He only spent one season in the principality after signing from Porto last summer, but Madrid’s interest in the player increased this summer after he put in some sensational displays at the World Cup.
The 22-year-old finished at the top scorer at the tournament with six goals in five games, including a sensational goal in the second round against Uruguay.
A statement on the Real Madrid website confirmed the signing of the attacking midfielder. It read: “Real Madrid C. F. have reached an agreement with AS Mónaco FC to buy James Rodríguez, who will join the club for the next six seasons.
“The player will be presented today, Tuesday 22 July, at 20:00 CET, in the Santiago Bernabéu’s presidential box. Following that, James Rodríguez will take his first steps on the Santiago Bernabéu’s pitch wearing the Real Madrid jersey and will then answer questions from the media outlets in attendance in the press room.”

Realistic Figures will feature his talent in the Major Matches looking at his Position on the statistics He’s coming into his Peak and Exactly what he needs to maintain his Ratio of assets and Goals He can be the best Buy or Biggest Flop (doubt that) but his eagerness to play the balls himself might not fit Team Play I hope I am Wrong let’s See I have no Doubts with Kroos He Gives and Takes 100% Team Player Playmaker I still Like Angel on the Wing behind Ronaldo (and that’s where) problem Bale or Ronaldo Must Take up Center Role if Benzema not There?
James, welcome home
