Real Madrid are edging closer to a deal with AS Monaco for former Atletico de Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, according to reports in Spain.

A number of media outlets have claimed Los Blancos will secure the 26-year-old on an initial season-long loan and pay around 10 million euros, with the option of paying an additional 25 million euros next summer should they decide to make the deal permanent.

Despite having secured the signings of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez to boost the squad already, Los Blancos are on the lookout for a forward as Karim Benzema is the only recognised number nine at the club.

Falcao has spent a season in France since his switch from Los Rojiblancos but injured his cruciate ligament in a cup game meaning he missed a large chunk of the campaign.  He also missed playing for Colombia at the World Cup this summer to focus on being fully fit again for the start of the new season.

Talk of Falcao’s arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu has been ongoing for some time although nothing had suggested any formal talks were taking place between the two clubs. The striker is represented by Jorge Mendes, who has close links with Florentino Perez, and already has a number of his clients at the club including Cristiano Ronaldo, Angel di Maria, Pepe and Fabio Coentrao.

  6. It is a great deal for Falcao at Real. The team needs to double certain positions. Again, my plea for Di Maria to remain los blancos. The seaon is long, so the team needs good players…

  14. 1. Bring Falcao to strengthen the attacking line up but don’t sell di maria. His contribution to our club is awesome.

    2. Casillas is one of the best goalkeeper in the history of Football. He is comparable with Oliver Can and also he is an one-club man staying with us since 15 years. So, better I’d appreciate the departure of Diego Lopez ( Who didn’t bring La Liga title last season) and definitely the inclusion of Keylor Navas after his tremendous performance in World Cup. Casillas and Navas will produce good goalkeeping option for los blancos. But, remember there’s ups and downs in life; so Casillas should stay with us and we should sell Lopez.

    3. Pepe can be considered for sale if we are able to convince Mats Hummels to join our team.

    4. Marcelo is no doubt better than Coentrao ans so we don’t want Marcelo to be sold.

    5. Real cansell Illaramendi to boost their deal of signing Falcao.
