Real Madrid are back in Spain having ended the US tour with a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United.
The Champions League winners drew against Inter Milan and lost against Roma in the previous two games on tour. The match against the Red Devils saw Cristiano Ronaldo make his first appearance of pre-season, coming on with 17 minutes to go.
A new attendance record was set at the match in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the 109,000 fans at the ground being the most to attend a football match in the USA.
But the papers today have the spotlight on one man – Iker Casillas. Both Marca and AS say the 32-year-old is still out of form and was at fault for at least one of the United goals. With one of the goalkeepers set to leave – and Diego Lopez looks the most likely at the moment – there is plenty for Carlo Ancelotti to ponder.
Elsewhere, the remaining big guns return to training this week – Toni Kroos, Sami Khedira and Angel di Maria were all given an extended break following their World Cup exertions. The main task for this week will be sorted out the future of di Maria. Ancelotti insists he has no intention of selling him, but PSG are ever confident of sealing a deal for the winger.
Di Maria should not go to psg
I believe since his injury, Iker C. has not been on the top of his game yet. Wrong positioning, wrong anticipation, insecurity in the goals… Casillas need to regain confidence of himself and his teammates. Hard work is needed for him.
Again and again, Di Maria should NOT be trade. PLEASEEEEEEE!!!!!!
Loan Di Maria out to PSG, Make Navas First Choice, Lopez as backup and Casillas third choice keeper for 2014/15 season. Alternate the keepers between competitions and see what happens from now to next transfer, provided the senior keepers accept the arrangement. Other wise, sell either Casillas or Lopez and go all out for Peter Chec.
