Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has said everyone at the club is excited for the new season ahead after watching the team pick up their first trophy of the campaign.
Los Blancos beat fellow La Liga side Sevilla in the European Super Cup at the Cardiff City Stadium thanks to two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo. It was the first of six trophies the club will play for this season thanks to their success in the Champions League in May.
And Perez said having become accustomed to the winning feeling, the players want that to continue in the coming months. He also praised Sevilla for their performance, saying the match in Wales was festival of Spanish football.
“We have to thank Sevilla for their fight and behaviour. This is celebration for Spain and we should all be very happy. We didn’t play badly considering how little time we had to prepare and we are very excited about this season,” he was quoted as saying.
He also went on to add that winning trophies is part of Real Madrid’s history, and the current crop of players is determined to carry that on.
“We have to continue improving the team and winning titles, that is Real Madrid’s history, and we have prepared for this season with that in mind,” he commented.
Glad to hear the determination of the players to embrace the winning spirit of the Real and the excitement around the team.
