Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has declared in an interview to Spanish radio station Cope that he wants Cristiano Ronaldo to be the leader of his next project and that he wouldn’t sell him “for 1,000 million euros”.
“Cristiano has two years left on his contract with us, he is the best player in the world and we would like to boost the squad with him as the main piece”, Perez said.
“I will do everything I can to extend his contract. We pay the players good salaries and we include very high exit clauses. We are not a club that sells players”.
I that interview, Perez also spoke about the possible transfers: “I don’t think we have to bring a star just to generate excitement. If there is a great player that can be signed, he will come to Real.”
“Bale is very talented, he plays in a friend club and we have to respect that. And if there is a player that Barcelona doesn’t want and we do, I think it would be fine to go after him”, he concluded, in a reference to the possible signing of Barça’s midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
