Barcelona star Lionel Messi is better than Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Real Madrid legend Guti.

Speaking to Punto Pelota, Guti stated the two are world class players, but that in the crucial moments of big games, Messi tends to deliver more.

The 26-year-old Argentinean has scored more than 200 goals in La Liga since he made his debut in the 2004-05 season. Ronaldo also has a phenomenal record having scored 202 goals in 202 games for Los Blancos.

Guti said: “I can only repeat what I have already said before and that is that Messi is the best in the world at the moment. It pains me to admit it, but it’s the simple truth.

He added:  “I am not saying that Messi is on another level than Cristiano, though. But he’s more decisive at certain moments when the team really needs him. He can salvage a game by himself.

“They are arguably the two best players in the world, but when it comes to my personal preference I must admit that I like Messi more.”
