Real Madrid host Bayern Munich for the second leg of their Champions League semi final tie at the Bernabeu at 7:45pm on Tuesday. Real Madrid have a 2-1 advantage from the first leg in Munich and look to be holding all the aces in their bid for a third consecutive Champions League title.
Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich Preview
Real Madrid have a vital lead and two precious away goals to defend but they must do it without the help of Daniel Carvajal who was injured in the first leg. Isco is another casualty from the game in Munich and his shoulder injury leaves him doubtful for the return leg on Tuesday. Nacho joined the first team squad for training on Sunday and Zinedine Zidane will choose between the 28 year-old and Lucas Vazquez for the vacant right back slot.
Raphael Varane was left out of the team which beat Leganes 2-1 at the weekend. The decision was taken as a precautionary measure and he is expected to be named in the starting eleven along with Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos who were rested on Saturday.
Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale were named on the bench in the first leg and it’s possible one of them could be called upon on Tuesday evening.
Bayern Munich fielded a reserve side for the 4-1 win against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday and Jupp Heynckes will recall his strongest available players for the Champions League rematch.
Jerome Boateng and Arjen Robben were both injured in the first half at the Allianz Arena and will miss the second leg. Niklas Sule is hoping to replace Boateng while Thiago Alcantara will likely deputise for Robben.
Left back David Alaba has recovered from injury and is in line for a recall but Kingsley Coman, Manuel Neuer and Arturo Vidal remain sidelined for the visitors.

Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid Prediction
Real Madrid have control of the tie but cannot afford a repeat of the quarter final match at the Bernabeu when Juventus won 3-1. Zinedine Zidane has stressed this tie is not over and his side must restrict the opportunities that will inevitably come Bayern’s way.
The Bundesliga side were wasteful in Munich and created enough chances to take a lead to Spain. They are in a similar position to when the two sides clashed in last seasons competition, Bayern won 2-1 at the Bernabeu to level the tie on aggregate but lost out to two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and one from Marco Asensio in extra time.
Real have the upper hand on Bayern in recent years, winning each of the last five Champions League meetings between the two sides. Los Blancos can eliminate Bayern again and will be happy to settle for a draw on this occasion.
