Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has declared if Real Madrid were to pay 120 million euros to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur it would make a “joke” of Financial Fair Play.
According to reports, Real Madrid are ready to pay a world-record fee to bring the Welshman to Santiago Bernabeu. Wenger says such figures would go completely against the new Uefa Finantial Fair Play (FFP) regulations aimed at making sure all clubs balance the books.
“It makes a joke of the FFP regulations. I find it amazing that in the year that FFP comes in world football has gone completely crazy. You wonder what kind of impact and effect FFP has on the football world. It looks like it has made everybody worse than before.”
“It’s never good to lose a big player, especially a British player,” he added. “I believe it’s important that the Premier League keeps the best players.”, he concluded.
My best club, may we be able to bring three trophies.
