Bayern Munich won the Audi Cup at their stadium thanks to a late goal from Robert Lewandowski. Real Madrid suffered their first defeat of the pre-season, although they didn’t play a bad game.

The visitors were close to taking the lead after nine minutes, when Toni Kroos picked the ball up 40 metres from goal and produced an effort which sailed inches wide of the post.

Benitez was forced into a change as Pepe suffered some physical problems and was replaced by Nacho Fernandez.

Thomas Muller was the most dangerous player in the match and he had a great chance to score when his strike from outside the box hit Sergio Ramos before coming back off the post.

Keylor Navas was superb on goal and saved Los Blancos from receiving a few more goals. Just before the break, he reacted brilliantly to get his leg to a low shot from Mario Gotze.

Manuel Neuer also proved his worth after the break as he moved quickly across the line to make a brilliant save from Kroos, who had targeted the top corner with a free kick from 35 metres.

Bayern should probably have taken the lead as they had two major chances. Benatia sent a free header wide of the target following a corner kick from Xabi Alonso.

Minutes later Douglas Costa delivered a perfect pass to Lewandowski, who somehow managed to miss the target from just a few metres out.

Navas saved Madrid a couple of times more, but he couldn’t deny Lewandowski with one minute to go. Costa’s free-kick found the Polish striker, who turned the ball home at the back post.
