Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has said he is confident his side can pick up three points in the city derby later this evening as his side has more quality than Atletico de Madrid.
Los Rojiblancos have made a perfect start to the La Liga campaign, winning six games out of six, and sit two points clear of Real in the table. The last time the two teams met at the Santiago Bernabeu in May, Diego Simeone’s team defeated Los Blancos 2-1 to lift the Copa del Rey, ending a 14-year winless run,
But speaking to the press ahead of the big match, Ancelotti stated he was confident Real’s quality would shine through. He added that he was not worried about the fact that his team has not found top form yet in La Liga, saying it takes time for new players and a new manager to gel.
“It’s hard to say if Atletico are better than us nowadays. They have a solid team, they play nicely together. But we are two different teams, with diverse qualities. They are more aggressive and better in physical terms. But Real Madrid has better quality. That’s why we are different,” Ancelotti said.
He added: “It’s true that we haven’t always played nicely or got the best scores, but we need time to improve. It’s just small things we will improve soon. We are in the right way to improve because the players understand the idea of playing even though we need to improve few things.
