Midfielder Claudio Marchisio believes his Juventus team have enough quality to defeat Real Madrid at the Juventus Stadium on Tuesday to boost their chances of qualifying for the Champions League last 16.
Juventus fought hard at the Santiago Bernabéu two weeks ago before eventually succumbing to a 2-1 loss, but the attacking midfielder believes the support of the home fans can spur the team on to victory.
Speaking to the club’s website the Italian said: “We haven’t had a great deal of time in which to prepare for the game, but encounters like these provide plenty of motivation by themselves.
“In Turin, we’ll be able to count on the support of our fans, who will provide a red-hot atmosphere at the stadium.
“We managed to defend well in Spain, enjoy possession and cause them problems. Madrid have plenty of strong players up front who sometimes help out less in defensive areas, thus putting their backline under pressure.”
Juventus currently sit third in Group B, still two points behind Galatasaray, who face Copenhagen in their fourth group game, meaning a result is a must from this huge tie if they want to avoid the ignominy of Europa League football after Christmas.
