Cristiano Ronaldo is used to breaking all kinds of records and he was at it again on Wednesday evening in Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund at Santiago Bernabeu.
His goal against the German side means that he is now the only player to have ever scored in all six of his side’s first round group matches in the Champions League. It is another great achievement for a magnificent player.
If you enjoy a gamble like our friends at Webet, you would probably have some money on Ronaldo to win the Balon D’Or yet again this year, and he looks back to his goalscoring best.
Scoring home and away against Tottenham Hotspur, Borussia Dortmund and APOEL is no easy feat, but the Portuguese international made it look quite simple. This comes mere weeks after he broke his own record for the most Champions League goals in a calendar year.
Ronaldo pleased with his achievement
Cristiano himself was delighted to break the record, but also made sure to mention how important the win was for the team before anything else.
“I’m very happy, we wanted to finish the group stage well with a victory,
“I also scored; I helped the team to win with a beautiful goal. The record is also important, I’m really pleased.”
As Real did not win the group, they will go into Monday’s last 16 draw unseeded and are set for a difficult game whoever gets drawn out of the hat. That being said, Ronaldo is hopeful that Los Blancos can go all the way yet again, in a competition that they have been dominating in recent years.
“The important thing was to pass through the group stage.
“Our aim is to win the Champions League.”
It is back to La Liga action this weekend though, as Real face Sevilla on Saturday.
