Barcelona right back Dani Alves has taken time out of his side’s preparations for this weekend’s match against Valencia to comment on Real Madrid’s situation in the Copa del Rey and suggest Ronaldo is not worthy of a place on the shortlist for the Ballon d’Or.
Proving once again that Los Cules players seem obsessed with the 10-time Champions League winners, Alves spoke to radio station Cadena Cope to talk over all things Los Blancos.
Real could be thrown out of the Copa after fielding Denis Cheyshev against Cadiz on Wednesday night even though he was supposed to be serving a one-match ban for picking up three yellow cards in last season’s competition while on loan at Villarreal.
Brazilian Alves stated: “These things should not happen at a club like Real Madrid. They should be expelled on the basis of their match [against Cadiz] parties and the rulebook. There’s no defence which stands up.”
The defender has also spoken about the Ballon d’Or shortlist, which has seen Ronaldo joined by Leo Messi and Neymar.
And Alves commented: “Messi is a bit ahead, because of his influence on the game. I think at this moment, Neymar is second best in the world. Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t deserve to be among the Ballon d’Or finalists. It’s not only about scoring goals.”
