Keylor Navas says he can’t wait for the Real Madrid game against Atletico de Madrid game to start as derby fixtures always have something special.
Los Blancos visit the Vicente Calderon on Sunday evening looking to protect their unbeaten start to the season and respond to last week’s disappointing home draw with Malaga.
Speaking in an interview with sponsors Mahou, the Costa Rican, who has only conceded one goal in eight games so far this campaign, said he enjoys the atmosphere in derby matches.
He stated: “It is added motivation, one of the most important games in La Liga, anybody would want to play in it. They have their fans, but ultimately it is 11 versus 11 and that is the most important thing. It is a nice and important game and fans really live it to the maximum. I approach every game with the same level of seriousness. All of the opponents deserve respect. That makes you more professional and means you play well in every game.”
Asked about what it means to be a Real Madrid player, the goalkeeper said he is living a dream.
“It is something to be really happy about and I have dreamed of it since I was little. I am fulfilling the dream and that fills me with pride and gives me motivation to keep going. My family is the first thing that makes me happy. They are my motivation and help me to keep going and fight every day. Being a Real Madrid player makes me really happy,” he commented.
Navas will be better than Casillas. We have the best goalkeeper in the world right now.
Bless u @miky, Navas is indeed at the echelon in ratings, week in week out we see why benites has kept faith in him, his showing settles the debate over bringing a better goalie, any goalie to come & take his place does so on based on certain sentiments. We don’t expect anyone to come & do better bcos we are humans & anything better is inhuman
