Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has said he doesn’t feel any extra pressure playing in front of his home crowd in Cardiff.

The 24-year-old returns to the Welsh capital tonight for the European Super Cup final between Real Madrid and Sevilla, and many of the crown at the Cardiff City Stadium will be supporting Bale, who hails from the city.

But speaking at a press conference ahead of the match – a game in which Los Blancos can win the first of six possible trophies this years – Bale said he doesn’t feel any extra pressure and is only focused on winning.

“I love being back home, but the most important thing is to win the match and the title. We want to win all the titles possible and we’re going to approach the match with a winning mentality. I don’t feel any pressure because I’m at home. We have to focus on winning the match against Sevilla and not on the fact that I’m playing at home,” he said.

The former Southampton and Spurs star, who joined in a 91-million-euro deal last summer, admitted that he has enjoyed his first proper pre-season with the club and the fact he is no longer the new kid on the block.

“It’s new for me not being the new guy and starting the season settled in the team. It is easier to do the preseason than it is not to do it. I’m fitter than last year and looking forward to the season,” Bale commented.
