Gareth Bale has admitted he is fit and “ready to play the next game, if the manager finds it convenient”. Los Blancos visit Villarreal on Saturday and the Welshman could make his debut for his new club.
The 24-year-old attended a press conference to present Real Madrid’s second kit for the Champions League, and he answered the reporters’ questions.
“Obviously, I’m a bit behind my team mates in fitness, but I can reach their level shortly. In the first two trainings with the group I’ve felt really well.
“I have spoken with Carlo Ancelotti, but what we said stays between us. I’ll play in the position he wants and I’ll always try to give my best. I think the team’s style will suit me well.
“Cristiano Ronaldo has also given me a warm welcome. He’s a great boy. He’s made me feel well these two days. I hope we can have a good connection on the field. He is one of the reasons that I’m here”.
Bale joked about his Spanish: “I’ve learned to say ‘La Decima’ and that is a great step. We’ll try to win everything, and I’m sure we’ll always have the fans support. I’m eager to play at Santiago Bernabeu”, he concluded.
With Marcelo, Coentrao and Isco sidelined for Villarreal’s match, it seems very likely that Bale will play his first minutes as a Madridista, although he won’t be a starter.
