Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has said on social media that he is refreshed after a holiday and ready to help the team get back on the trophy trail.
The Welshman had a superb first season at the club following his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013. He netted a spectacular goal against Barcelona in the final of the Copa del Rey before scoring the crucial second goal over Atletico de Madrid in the Champions League final in Lisbon. Los Blancos eventually won 4-1, ending their 12-year wait for La Decima.
But last season was a different story for Bale and Madrid. The team failed to win any major honours and had to watch as Barcelona lifted La Liga and the Champions League. Bale endured a tough campaign on a personal level, coming under fire from media and fans.
Indeed, on a couple of occasions, some people took things too far and waited outside the club’s training ground to abuse Bale.
Having gone away to rest over the summer, Bale is now back in the Spanish capital and ready to take part in the tour of Australia and China.
And writing on Twitter, the 25-year-old said: “Had a great summer but can not wait to get back in to the season and challenge for undecima #HalaMadrid”
