Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has thanks the club’s fans for their support in his first ever interview in Spanish.
Two years after signing for the Los Blancos, Bale has given an interview to Madrid-based sports daily AS, having spent hours with a personal tutor learning the language. A preview of the interview has been published by the paper in which Bale says he appreciates the support of Madridistas.
Bale enjoyed a fine first season in the Spanish capital, scoring the winner in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona and netting in the Champions League final against Atletico de Madrid.
Last season was tougher for the Welshman who came under fire from the media and fans for some perceived poor performances. On a couple of occasions, fans even waited outside the training ground to vent their frustration at Bale.
In the interview, the 25-year-old says: “The fans are good with me, and it is a dream for me to play for Real Madrid.”
The former Tottenham Hotspur man is expected to be fit for the game against Real Betis at the weekend after picking up a toe injury in the opening day draw with Sporting Gijon last Sunday afternoon.
