A good chance for Morata

Zinedine Zidane has announced in press conference that Karim Benzema will have some rest against Deportivo La Coruña, like other players in the squad. Los Blancos travel next week to Japan to lift the third trophy in 2016, the FIFA World Cup. Benzema’s replacement in the starting eleven will be Álvaro Morata.

Real Madrid supporters missed the former Juventus player during his time injured. Morata could have had a lot of minutes in November but he got injured in a game with Spain at Wembley. Unfortunately, he could take the chance when Benzema was out of fit and Gareth Bale got injured. Lucas Vázquez, for instance, has had a lot of minutes during this period.

Luckily for Zinedine Zidane, Toni Kroos and Álvaro Morata have shorten their time in the sickroom and both came back against Borussia Dortmund. The striker played only five minutes in the Champions League but he will have the opportunity to start on Saturday against Deportivo La Coruña.

Before getting injured, Morata was the topscorer of the squad. So far, the striker has scored 8 goals in all competitions. In the Champions League he found the net against Sporting Lisbon -the winner in the last minute- and Legia Warsaw and in La Liga he wrote his name in the scoresheet four times.

However, it looks like Morata has given more to the team when he has started on the bench. It happened also in his time with Juventus. For this reason, Morata has to take advantage of these games to show Zidane that he’s able to start and play an important role for the team, even if Bale or Benzema are out of the pitch.

Most of the Real Madrid theoretical substitutes have played a great role this season, including Morata. Lucas Vázquez, Isco, Mateo Kovacic have taking advantage of the absence of important players in the squad. Now it’s also time for Morata to score some goals and show his quality in front of Real Madrid supporters.
