Iker Casillas has congratulated Keylor Navas after the Costa Rican keeper made his league debut for the side at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.
The summer signing from Levante was brought in by Carlo Ancelotti to provide competition for club captain Casillas following the departure of Diego Lopez to AC Milan.
Los Blancos enjoyed an easy 5-1 win over Elche and their was little Navas could do to stop the visitors scoring from the penalty spot.
Writing on his personal website, Casillas congratulated the 27-year-old keeper for making his home debut. “I want to hand it to my teammate Keylor on making his debut at the Bernabéu. Congratulations,” he wrote.
The World Cup winner also had words of praise for team mate Cristiano Ronaldo, who found the net four times on Tuesday evening.
“The team were magnificent, both in defence and in attack, and I would like to make special mention of Cris, because even though we are used to seeing these goalscoring figures season after season, it is not easy to score 4 in the same game,” he wrote.
Casillas then turned his attention to the weekend’s game against Villarreal and called on his team mates to keep up their recent good form. “It will be difficult, but we know we can do it. Come on,” he ended.
