Gareth Bale says he can’t wait to play on English soil again as Real Madrid ramp up their preparations to take on Manchester City in Tuesday night’s Champions League first leg semi final.
The Welshman missed out on Real’s clash with Liverpool last season meaning the trip to the Etihad will be the first time he has made a trip to England since joining Los Blancos in 2013.
And the forward, who netted twice in vital win over Rayo Vallecano at the weekend, says he is looking forward to taking on the Citizens, a team he has a good record against from his days in the Premier League with Spurs.
“I think we won a few times, I’ve scored a few times against them. It will be a very good game for sure, they’re a very tough team but we’ll be going there to try and win and do everything we can to get to the final. I always loved playing in the Premier League, I still watch it and it will be great to go back. The most important thing is to get the victory,” he told reporters.
He added: “When you go into big games against big teams like that, no-one’s ever really the favourite. You have to work hard and play really well to win. We are going to go in now with confidence, though we know they won against Stoke so we’re looking forward to it, I’m excited. “
