Real Madrid midfielder Isco has said the fans who travel to Lisbon will play a crucial role in helping the team win the Champions League.
Los Blancos take on city rivals Atletico de Madrid at the Estadio da Luz – the first time two teams from the same city play each other in the final of Europe’s elite club competition.
Should Carlo Ancelotti’s team be successful on the night, it will end the long wait for the club’s 10th European Cup crown. But attacking midfielder said it would only be possible with the support of the crowd. And he said he wants to see similar scenes to the ones in Valencia when the supporters created an incredible atmosphere at the Copa del Rey final.
Speaking at the media day in Madrid ahead of the final, Isco said: “The atmosphere inside the dressing room is great, we are looking forward! The team knows we want the fans to be just another player like in the Copa del Rey Final. Now I’m calm, but I’m sure I’ll be more nervous at the end of the week. Real Madrid can’t be that much time without playing a Champions League Final and we hope to have that good luck necessary to win it.”
“We’ve been a strong team against Barcelona or Bayern and we need to play that way next Saturday too. We will give our best, everybody dreams about playing this kind of game,” he added.
