Real Madrid forward Jese Rodriguez has said he’s never entertained the idea of leaving the club.

The forward made a name for himself two seasons ago when he netted eight goals in 31 appearances for Los Blancos. His excellent form even lead to some to say he should be called up for Spain’s World Cup squad that summer. But a knee injury cut short his season and he spent nine months on the sidelines.

Last season was a frustrating one for Jese as he found it tough to make an impression under former boss Carlo Ancelotti once he was fully fit again. And that lead to talk the striker may be heading for an exit – with Villarreal and Everton both mentioned as potential destinations.

New Real boss Rafa Benitez has told the 24-year-old he is part of his plans this season though, something that gives Jese plenty of confidence.

After scoring in the 3-0 win over Inter Milan, the striker said: “I feel good. I feel better as time goes by and by playing getting playing time. I’m working hard and we’re all doing well as a group. I never wanted to leave. This club has given me so much and I now have the confidence of the new coach. We’ll fight on.”
