Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has said Jose Mourinho couldn’t handle the pressure of being manager of Los Blancos.
The now Chelsea boss was in charge of the 10-time Champions League winners between 2010 and 2013 and lifted La Liga and the Copa del Rey during his time in the Spanish capital.
He failed in his main objective to win Europe’s top prize, and is most remembered for his falling out with most of the Real squad, opposition bosses and players, and members of the Spanish FA.
Mourinho, who considers himself a special talent in the world of football management despite not winning a trophy in more than two years, dropped Iker Casillas in favour of Diego Lopez, and also had rows some of Madrid’s more senior players.
Speaking to BBC World Service, Calderon said the Portugese boss’ departure was down to his inability to deal with the pressure of managing the biggest club in world football.
