Real Madrid announced in the official website the extension of Lucas Vázquez contract until 2021. The Galician youngster was the next in the list after the agreements with Luka Modric or Toni Kroos. The next footballers to extend their contract should be Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale or Pepe, whose contract expires at the end of the present season.
Lucas Vázquez played yesterday a great game against Cultural Leonesa and he’s taking his opportunities when Zidane decides that Lucas needs to be in the pitch. However, he’s not enjoying a lot of minutes: “I think we have an amazing squad with high-level footballers, so whoever plays is going to do it right. The most important thing is keep working in this way”, Lucas said.
Lucas Vázque was born in Galicia but he joined Real Madrid when he was very little. After, he decided to leave to have more opportunities at Espanyol, where he shined. Last year, Real Madrid brought him back and he is succeeding in the team: “I’m very happy. Since 2007 my dream was wearing the Real Madrid t-shirt. It wasn’t easy, and I’m very happy to be here”, Lucas Vázquez said in press conference after the announcement.
One of the key moments of his career was when Lucas shot the first penalty in the Champions League final in Milan: “I had the confidence to score and I was lucky to do it and win the Champions League. I asked to shoot one and they gave me the first one”, the winger explained.
Despite his good performances, he’s not enjoying so many minutes because the BBC are ahead: “The coach speaks with me and he explains us what he wants. Training every day is what we have to do and when he decides to give me an opportunity, I have to be in good shape to help the team”, Lucas Vázquez finished.
