While there is an important Copa del Rey match to look forward to tonight, the Madrid press today lead with comments made by interim Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu in the media yesterday.

Both AS and Marca go with ‘Madriditis’ headlines, referring to the fact that whenever there is some sort of controversy at the Catalan club, they always seem to be obsessed about laying blame with the nine-time European cup winners. The case over Neymar’s transfer and how much Barca paid is still rumbling on, ahead of a lawsuit brought by one of the club members who wanted more clarity and transparency from the club.

Speaking to journalists yesterday, Bartomeu, who stepping in when Sandro Rosell resigned last week, said the law case has snowballed because there is a silent driving force behind it – Real Madrid.

“At Barça the members are in charge and I like it that way. Cases (the member who filed the lawsuit) has every right in the world to do what he did and I would have done the same. The club belongs to its members. That’s what makes a people’s club like Barça great. I don’t want to get involved or talk about whether this would happen at Real Madrid. I don’t think there’s anyone behind Cases, but his lawsuit was taken advantage of in Madrid and made to fly very high. They tried to damage us,” he said.

Elsewhere, Carlo Ancelotti has been talking about Karim Benzema. And he says the early season woes he had in front of goal were due to a lack of confidence. Now the Frenchman is happy again, he is at ease playing up front, and has starting 2014 in sensational scoring form.
